The Foundations of First Congregational Church
First Congregational Church lives its life of faith in the "Congregational Way." This means there is no hierarchy and each worshipper has the freedom to develop their own belief as led by God. The church is goverened by Boards of Deacons and Trustees. However, each member is invited to be fully active, participate and vote on important matters to the life of the church.

The mission and goals of the church are as follows:
Mission: Celebrating over 150 years of returning the favor of God’s love by setting aside differences through worship, inclusiveness, fellowship and service.
Vision Statement: Building a vibrant and vital church in an urban environment to praise God through worship, mission, education and outreach in an inclusive and diverse community.
Purpose Statement: The purpose of First Congregational Church is to celebrate God’s love and to build a vibrant and vital church through worship, fellowship, education, service, and outreach in an inclusive and diverse community.
We are affiliated with the United Church of Christ (UCC) which is made up for four traditions that joined together in 1957. The slogan for the UCC is: "God is still speaking - Never place a period where God has placed a comma."
We are also affiliated with the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC). The NACCC places great importance on the autonomy of the local church. Historic Congregational Pastor John Robinson said, "There is yet more truth and light to be shed from God's Holy Word."
