Trustee Report on Summer Painting and Restoration

If you were at the church this summer you undoubtedly noticed the 22,000 ton lift that the contractors were using to paint and restore the steeple, its railings, roof, fallen gutter, broken window and flashing.  In addition, the trim and window frames on the main building were scraped and painted and rotted sills were replaced.  The columns on the front of the church have been scraped and painted as have the front doors.  The ceramic tiles on the outside landing at the top of the outside steps are being re-set with new grouting which should stop the rain from leaking into the storage rooms behind the stage in Palmer Hall.  Rusted metal door frames at the back of the church off the small parking lot have been repaired and painted and the deteriorated wooden door on the outside storage room is being replaced with a metal door.  A new roof over the back steps leading to the Education Wing has been installed to replace the old roof which had failed and was allowing water to leak into the hall leading to the sanctuary. The deteriorated fiberglass soffits on the Education Wing have been replaced with vinyl, and the trim, doors, railings and trim for the large window over the Quail Street entrance have been painted.  All work should be completed by the time we move services back to the sanctuary in September.
